Pie

So the pie that we made at Mary's house the other day basically consists of boiling cans for 4 hours and dumping them into a pre-made pie shell. We took said pies to the carnival at church on Sunday and won the pie baking contest. Unbelievable! We were competing against homemade apple pies with woven pastry crusts and other such carefully constructed items. There was one with perfect meringue piled high and browned to the exact right golden shade. It seems so wrong to win.

But that didn't stop us from claiming the $50 gift certificate to Spaghetti Warehouse. It turns out that they are the low end of the parent company's string of restaurants. Bruce & I took ourselves to Cantina Laredo down in Lakewood and indulged in gourmet Mexican food. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an adult evening out on the town in Dallas. It was some of the most flavorful food I've ever eaten.

The only downer was when we got home and realized that the carefully packaged leftovers were still sitting on the table. I've been disappointed about that for 2 days now.
