Today I played some serious Wii Sports Resort with Bruce. Then I went out geocaching (without finding any geocaches). I did have a bit of an adventure and a very long walk in some beautiful weather.
After walking down this path for about a mile and realizing it would not take me to the cache, I turned around and walked back to the car.
I then parked behind a liquor store on Greenville about a tenth of a mile from the cache. I climbed up the embankment of an abandoned railroad track. (It's a rails-to-trails in progress. No rails, just ties.)
I walked a short way to the location and then realized I was alone - in a place where women shouldn't be alone. And I was holding $1,000 worth of electronics in my hands.
While contemplating this, I spotted a local 'resident' walking my way intently. I shoved the iPhone and GPSr into my pockets and proceeded to jog back down the tracks toward my car.
I then realized I would have to get back down the embankment. I manged to do a side shuffle down without falling and bolted to my car, locking it as I closed the door.
I don't think I was in any actual danger, but it felt a lot like those horror movies where the woman can't get the keys in the ignition.
I did get away in time to see my would-be assailant panhandling someone in the liquor store parking lot.
I think I'll check this trail out again when Bruce can go with me.
